To be the first follower of anything takes courage, especally when it goes against social norms. I decided to be the dancing Nut, and dedicate my life to finding agreements with people I would not normally make agreements with because I suck at it. I have noticed that I am not the only one.
I started with just the question: Is there enough? At first, it was a quiet reflection at first because I was in the darkest moments of my life. I started to look around at my world and asked Is there Enough? The resounding answer to me was yes but. That "BUT" stuck with me and kept me up at night. Yes, there is enough out there but I do not have access to it. I need "A" or I need "B" but only after I achieve "C". These turned into the "What are we going to do about it" centeral question.
Well, what am I going to do about my life and this question that I can not seem to get out of my head. I just did like any creative person does.. I create. I started to ask what else, what is needed right now, how can I reflect that in our conversation and finally.. Who could use all this?
Turns out there are a lot of people out there looking for ways to talk and make agreements with peopel they would not normaly make agreements with.
I have spent the last six years watching the divide in the world increase and the hatred and fear blind people to the point they walk away from their family and friends just because of a stance they take on a topic. "How can I be your friend if you believe that?!" We dehumanize people because of something they believe and in doing so our world has split in two.
Like Daniel, I have set out to do what I can to fix this and what I have been building are tools to help people to talk to one another again.
Speak Before the Storm is a modern parable about learning to find agreements when the world feels divided and the clock is ticking.
Following the journey of Maddic Marshall Reinheart, a brilliant but socially isolated analyst who sees a devastating storm on the horizon. The story unfolds as he is forced out of his comfort zone and into a series of trials that teach him the art of communication, trust, and agreement-making.
Guided by mentors, hard lessons, and the wisdom of those before him, Maddic discovers that survival depends not just on facts, but on finding common ground with people he once dismissed. This is more than a novel, it’s a guide to speaking with courage, listening with empathy, and choosing abundance over fear before the storms in our lives arrive.
I wrote Speak Before the Storm because I have lived through the pain of fractured conversations, family arguments, political divides, and moments when fear and pride drowned out love and truth. Like Maddic, I too have struggled to make my voice understood and to hear others with compassion. This story is my way of offering hope and tools to anyone who feels caught in the storm of division. It’s a reminder that we don’t have to choose between silence and shouting; there is another path, one where curiosity, agreements, and courage can turn conflict into connection and scarcity into abundance.
Mining for Agreements is the hands-on workbook designed to help you practice the lessons woven through Speak Before the Storm. Where the story inspires, this guide equips. Inside, you’ll find tools, reflection prompts, and step-by-step exercises drawn from the world’s best communication strategies—teaching you how to listen beneath the noise, recognize hidden agreements, and turn conflict into connection. Just like digging for gold in the dark, you’ll discover that agreements often lie buried under fear, scarcity, or misunderstanding. This workbook gives you the pickaxe and the map. Whether you’re navigating family disagreements, workplace tensions, or community divides, Mining for Agreements will help you train your “agreement muscles” until they become second nature—so you’re ready to face any storm with courage, clarity, and compassion.

I wanted a game to make making agreements fun and challenging. I found as many different skills as I could to put into this, all the way from FBI negotiations to Bee democracy. I hope you have fun with this game because I had so much fun making it.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Jasmine Renee for taking the time to sit down with me and explore the IsThereEnough campaign. Our conversation went beyond the surface and dove into the heart of what this movement is about—seeking agreements, choosing abundance over fear, and rehumanizing one another in the face of division. I was both humbled and delighted by her thoughtful questions, and deeply grateful for the space she created to also share how my faith has guided me on this journey. Thank you, Jasmine, for bringing such wisdom, kindness, and curiosity to the First Follower series.
